An ideal candidate will have worked at pace in startups, scaleups or agile corporates taking ownership of complex and often highly cross-functional areas/projects, operating at a senior/staff level. You may have experience leading focus groups, performing customer research or working directly with users, experience of US higher Education practices, US academia or Education technology is a plus, but not essential (though upskilling in this area will be critical to succeeding in this role).

Joining a team of 1 Senior PM & 1 Senior Strategist, and 2 Mid-level Product Managers, and a Designer, you will be empowered to manage your own stream of work, focussing specifically on innovation in integrated US higher education bookstore services, as well as supporting cross-team initiatives, measuring opportunities and success across projects helping the Product team deliver greater outcomes and adding strategic business value. At times you will be responsible for overseeing complex dependency-heavy projects, working across discovery and delivery areas concurrently to bring clarity to and enable a culture of continuous feedback & opportunity assessment - this role is for someone who enjoys all aspects of hands-on Product work. An ideal candidate will have experience working at a Senior, Group or Staff level, and will be confident leading projects.

You will be managed by the Head of Product who will involve you to review commercial opportunities, assessing product and integration opportunities, as well as aligning on and driving a value-orientated inclusive product culture. This role will challenge you to learn-fast, maintain focus, and push yourself, in an award-winning company that continues a trajectory of scaling fast.

What you will be doing:

  • Assessing, validating and prioritising strategic, commercial and operational opportunities
  • Working with customers, academics, and store staff to understand needs, and adeptly communicate planned improvements and manage expectations, enabling and empowering faster more confident delivery and discovery activities
  • Reviewing work of Product Managers and helping support them as they develop, and in turn receiving the same support across the entire product team
  • Testing, training and documenting improvements and removing barriers to learning, understanding and delivering value

What we are looking for:

  • Exceptional communication skills including the ability to translate complex concepts into clear outcomes
  • Excellent written documentation skills with an ease of transferring agreements and decisions into training, guides, and tools

  • Respect for all others

Nice to have

  • Skill at mentoring, supporting and leading others to bring out their best skills/abilities without overexerting influence, control or input
  • Experience of US higher education services, academic practices or experience working with faculty
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, designers and operational experts, understanding and investing in cross-team improvements
  • Self-regulation - to be calm under pressure and work effectively in a high-volume environment where feedback is rapid, regular and may challenge focus
