Position Overview

As a Textbook Manager, you will oversee the end-to-end operations of the textbook department within the campus store. This role is pivotal in ensuring students have timely access to required learning materials and faculty receive responsive, high-quality service. You will be the main point of contact for academic departments and publishers, manage inventory lifecycle, and act as the lead in the store manager’s absence.

What you will be doing:

  • Collect and analyze textbook adoptions for order placement.
  • Correspond with department chairperson, faculty members and publishers on book orders.
  • Manage bookstore operations such as inventory management for the department, including the return of inventory to the vendors or purchasing.
  • Coordinate with department chairs and faculty to collect, confirm, and process textbook adoptions each term.
  • Ensure all adoptions meet campus deadlines to provide students with Day 1 access to materials.
  • Liaise with publishers and vendors to place accurate and cost-effective textbook orders.
  • Facilitate timely returns to vendors in alignment with return policies and timelines.
  • Serve as the go-to resource for all textbook-related inquiries from faculty, students, and administration.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with academic staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales, costs, and textbook margins.
  • Stay updated with compliance requirements and industry trends in campus retail.

What we are looking for


Must have:

  • Proven success in retail management;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Desire to lead a results-driven team embedded in the campus community;

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;

  • Comfortable using computers and standard software.

Good to have:

  • 3 years of retail management experience;

  • Previous textbook or campus store experience is a plus.
